Our Cattery

I have my daughter to thank for my first Bengal. One day I got a call from my daughter who was attending Michigan State University at the time. She had gone to an animal shelter with a student vet friend of hers and fell in love with a kitten. She was determined that somehow she was going to have this kitten and knowing this child, I knew somehow she would. Trying to keep her focused, I promised we would consider a kitten during her summer break. Sure enough summer came, Cathy came home and so did the desire for a kitten. I had never owned a kitten before and I was one of the narrow minded people of the world who believed all of the cat myths, such as cats are sneaky, cats are creepy, cats will kill your babies, you never know what a cat will do, foolishness, foolishness, foolishness!

We decided to look on the Internet to see what kind of kitten we would like to buy and that is where I discovered the Bengal. However still in the cat myth mode, I told my daughter we would look at puppies and kittens, hoping she would pick a puppy. I arranged to go and look at the puppy first and as I had hoped, we never made it to see the kitten. However, the breathtaking beauty of the Bengal forever stayed in my mind. After much thought I had to see this kitten, so I called LivingArts to set up a visit. This is where the cat myths stopped and Enkidu grabbed my heart. He was unbelievably beautiful to me and soooo playful. I had to have him. I remember coming home with not just a kitten, but a loaded down car of cat things. I had stopped at the pet store and bought the biggest play house for my new baby. After having Enkidu for about two months I decided I had to have another one and that is how Zimbabwe came into my heart.

"Zimbabwe at his best"

Zimbabwe came from DivineOne in California. I didn't get a chance to see him in person until I picked him up at the airport. He was beautiful as all Bengals are, but he didn't strike me at first like Enkidu did. Zimbabwe stolu my heart simply with his temperament. He is probably the ultimate in affection. Zimbabwe demands affection. I've seen him with my other daughter, Camille who just isn't fond of any pets, but Zimbabwe will stay in her face until she will say, "all right Zimbabwe there, now go" attached with many rubs. Zimbabwe always wins. He is such a family cat. We live in a fairly large home and wherever the majority is that is where Zimbabwe wants to be. He's big, he's bold, and he's beautiful. I never knew how much happiness I would find in these two spotted little kittens. That is how ABEO Bengals began.

"My Beloved Zulu"

As a parent I love seeing my children happy and as a breeder I am the same way. That is why the name ABEO was chosen. ABEO in Africa means, "Come to Bring Happiness". I believe Bengals do just that. They help to complete you. If you want a pet that will put that smile on your face, joy in your heart and happiness in your home, you have to own a Bengal. A Bengal has the exotic look of the jungle with a gentle spirit and a lap loving temperaments. At ABEO our cattery goal is to be a Cattery of Excellence. From your lap to the show ring is what we strive for at ABEO.

"Life At ABEO"

My desire as a breeder is to help improve the breed, to produce top quality cats, and to educate my customer.  That is why I chose reputable breeders to start my breeding program, (such as Junglebook, Cheetahsden,  LivingArts, and Goldspurr).

We are a small cattery therefore our kittens are hand-raised. ABEO is a TICA registered cattery and a TIBCS member. One of our goals is to perfect the Bengal breed with wild heads, typey bodies, outstanding rosettes, glittered pelts, champion bloodlines, guaranteed health and loving temperaments. Here at ABEO we firmly believe in the satisfaction guaranteed policy. We guarantee that our kittens will bring nothing but true happiness to your home!
